Kimonos from the British Museum Collection

The visit to Ann Hecht's home for her talk on Japanese Textiles has been cancelled, due to illness. However we have been very lucky, and we are booked into the Asia Study Room at the British Museum on Wednesday, 22nd February from 11am – 1pm.

We will be shown ’Kimonos from the British Museum Collection’ with interesting weaving and dyeing techniques, including indigo and the shibori and kesuri methods of resisting dye.

If any of you have knowledge of these methods, or know someone who could come to this event, and talk about the kimonos we are shown, this would be most helpful. The British Museum staff do not have expertise in this area.

Please let Louise Teague know if you wish to come. We could have lunch afterwards.
